This past weekend (24th & 25th October) saw the 2015 British National Surf Championships take place at the beach just a short distance from our holiday cottages Croyde. Having originally been postponed in September due to a lack of swell, spectators and surfers alike were lucky enough to be treated to one of the best weekends of the year for surfing at Croyde. The forecast for the weekend was provided by Magicseaweed, and showed Sunday as the best day for competing, but Saturday was going to be challenge. 4-6ft peaks with offshore winds bowled into the bay, which caused excitement levels to skyrocket! Local surfer Peony Knight secured two titles over the weekend, securing both the Caravan Club U18 Girls crown and a win in the Caravan Club Women’s division. Meanwhile, Luke Dillon from Newquay took the title as the 2015 British Champion, which will see him immortalised in the history books.
