Blue Moon set to light up the skies over North Devon this evening
This evening (Friday 31st July) will not only be the first Blue Moon to rise over the skies of North Devon for the first time in 36 months, it will also be a Supermoon too. For those who didn’t know, a Supermoon occurs when the Moon is at its closest point in orbit to the Earth, known as perigee. As a result the Blue Moon will appear bigger and brighter than the usual sight of the moon in the sky. So just what is a Blue Moon? A Blue Moon is an occurrence that sees two full moons in one calendar month, a rare manifestation, hence the popular phrase "once in a blue moon". So if you are here in North Devon near our Woolacombe self-catering, you'd better make the most of it, because you won’t get the chance to see another one until January 2018. Tonight’s weather forecast is currently showing as partially cloudy although there should be adequate chances to catch a glimpse of July's second full moon - and what a sight it’ll be!
