There is a lot to think about when planning to go on a holiday, and packing all of the right things is just one of the items to tick off your list. We'd like to make it a little easier for you by suggesting some items that you really don't want to leave home without when visiting us here at Smythen Farm Holiday Cottages. Here are eight essentials to make your holiday one to truly remember: 1. Camera: Smythen Farm Holiday Cottages are located in some of the most beautiful countryside in the United Kingdom. There are stunning walks and gorgeous beaches for miles which are, quite simply, a photographer's dream. 2. Dog Lead: Smythen Farm is dog friendly which means you can bring your four-legged family member along and enjoy long, scenic walks (or jogs) throughout the surrounding area together. 3. Umbrella: No British holiday is complete without a bit of rain - it's what makes North Devon so lush and green! Make sure you pack an umbrella so you don't get caught out in a sudden downpour. 4. A Good Book: Relaxing should always be a big part of a holiday, and a good book will help you to do just that. Whether it's a mystery, comedy, romance or biography, and whether you choose to read a paper or a digital book, just don't leave this item behind! 5. Wellies: As well as an umbrella, a good pair of wellington boots (or wellies) are an essential item to pack. Smythen Farm is, as the name suggests, a farm, so if you're strolling around the property after a bit of rain, this footwear is exactly what you'll need. 6. Walking Shoes: If you plan on making the most of all of the extensive walking trails in North Devon (we recommend that you do!), packing a pair of sturdy and comfortable shoes will mean you can walk all day in whatever terrain you come across. 7. Swimming Gear: With so many beautiful beaches surrounding us at Smythen Farm, you'd be remiss to leave your towel and your swimming gear at home. Even if the weather's not good enough for a trip to the beach, you can spend time in our heated and covered swimming pool instead! 8. Binoculars: The flora and fauna in North Devon is varied and abundant, so bring your binoculars to get the best view. And speaking of views, looking across the Bristol Channel provides views all the way over to the coast of South Wales...bring your binoculars to test just how far you can see!
