A great event for those on North Devon family holidays if you’re a fan of Olympic athletes and love horse riding. The Treborough Hill’s British Evening competition has confirmed that the well-known Olympians Mary King and Zara Phillips are among the preliminary entries for the event taking place on Exmoor over the weekend of 21st-22nd June. Both of these well-known riders have signed up for the BE100 class at Treborough Hill near Watchet. There’s also been conformation that Mary King will be riding on Hoodunit and King Dan for the event, while Zara Phillips has chosen to ride Rum Expectations in her search for success at the event. The cross country course at Treborough Hill was designed by the London 2012 Olympic course builder, Adrian Ditcham, so there’s every chance this course is set to be just as exciting for riders and spectators. Event Organiser, Sarah Weatherlake, said: “Treborough Hill is only in its third year of running BE competitions. To have riders of Mary and Zara’s calibre attend is just fantastic, and will hopefully encourage others to come and compete too! "With a new Novice track, 2014 is a very exciting year for Treborough Hill.” There’s still the opportunity for competitors to enter the event, and Treborough Hill is offering free access to spectators who want to enjoy the weekend of racing.
