For those who love North Devon family holidays and enjoy getting out to experience the local attractions to keep everyone entertained, there may well of been a visit to Key Pitts for a spot of quad biking action. If you’ve had the fortune to have been then you may well have come across a man who used to work there who is now achieving a dream of a life time by joining in a nationwide quad bike stunt show. Paul Hannam, 29, who is from Barnstaple, will be featuring in shows together with Matt Coulter, aka the Kangaroo Kid, who is a world famous stunt rider, throughout the 2015 tour season. After many years of working at Quay Pitts, Paul, then aged 21, began competing all over the UK and even Europe and became the South West Enduro Champion and finished third in the British Quad Championships. After initially getting to know the Kangaroo Kid in 2007 when Paul started speaking to him at shows, Matt told him to go and visit him if he ever found himself in Australia. As luck would have it, in 2011 Paul was visiting family in Sydney so took Matt up on the gesture and the pair met up. Over the following years Pete went back to Australia to see Matt. Then at the end of 2014 Matt’s son chose to steer away from quad bike shows which led to Matt calling Paul to offer him the vacancy in the show, of course Paul said yes! Now the pair will do a succession of shows here in the UK together as well as touring elsewhere.
