Our beaches are usually populated with visitors from far and wide, many of whom stay in the fantastic coastal cottages here whenever they get the chance to make the trip to this exclusive part of the country. Soon to be joining them will be popular reality TV star Andy Jordan who has recently been swapping the hectic lifestyle of Chelsea in exchange for the enticing shores of Croyde in North Devon this summer. And now he is offering a surf lesson to one lucky person - in return for a charity donation. Channel 4’s hit show Made In Chelsea, made Andy a household name and with the news that he will be relocating to Croyde this summer in order to teach surfing with the Lyndon Wake Surf School we’re sure we will see some excited visitors making their way to the region. Generous-minded Andy has decided to use his expertise in teaching surfing as a way to raise money for charity. He will be donating to The Wave Project’s new Crowd Funder appeal. Andy will be donating a free hour-long surf lesson at Croyde to the first person to donate £500 to the appeal, which is raising money to buy specialist disability surfing equipment and a van for its surf club for disadvantaged children. As well as the lesson Andy will also be signing ten limited edition Wave Project t-shirts, which will be available to donation givers of £50 or more. Joining the support for the appeal are no other than former UK surf national champion Russell Winter and pro surfer and former English national champion Hannah Harding. They have offered three surf lessons to people who donate £250 or more. The Wave Project is aiming to raise £5,000 by 28 March, in order to facilitate the purchase of specialist adaptive surf boards, a beach wheelchair and a new club van. It will allow the not-for-profit organisation to continue to provide free surfing lessons to some of the South West’s most isolated children and young people. Everyone who makes a donation will also get their name exclusively printed on the side of the van.
