The last sea-going paddle steam boat in the world, the Waverley, has made its greatly anticipated return to Ilfracombe in conjunction with its annual tour of the Bristol Channel and what a delightfully English welcome it received too. Just a stone’s throw from the Ilfracombe holiday cottages that line the hills of this beautiful seaside holiday town was the presence of the magnificent sight of the Waverley in the harbour. As part of the ships annual visit to the popular seaside destination of Ilfracombe, taking place over three days, it has been estimated that the remarkable ship will attract more than 1,000 people into the town. The ship, which is capable of carrying up to 800 passengers will be offering trips to Lundy Island as well as giving passengers the chance to capture the North Devon coast from a truly unique vantage point as it travels along the Bristol Channel. The Waverley will be setting off from Ilfracombe on Sunday 7 September at 2pm and 3.30pm and it’s simply not to be missed. If you would like to obtain tickets for any of the remaining visit from Ilfracombe they can be bought from Ilfracombe TIC, online at: booking.waverleyexcursions.co.uk/book-now/ilfracombe-to-cruise-atlantic-coast-7-sept or by phoning 0845 1304647.
