What’s on in Exmoor during the Easter holiday weekend?

Easter is a popular time of the year for holidays, with many holidaymakers, couples and families coming to stay in our self-catering holiday cottages. North Devon always has plenty going on, and a visit to Exmoor National Park over the Easter holidays is definitely recommended, as there’s so much for everyone to enjoy here.

Spring lamb talks

Running from March 28th until April 12th at National Trust property Arlington Court, found just outside Barnstaple, this is your chance to meet a flock of new-born spring lambs. An Arlington Ranger will be giving a talk about how sheep are reared and just how important they are to helping the estate and the surrounding moors thrive.

Combe Martin Seashore Safari

Taking place on Easter Monday, this event, ran by the Combe Martin Museum, is great fun for all the family. Starting at the museum at 1pm, the safari will head down to the shore for a rockpool ramble, with an optional microscope workshop to further examine the findings discovered on the beach to follow. All equipment is provided – just bring some sensible clothes!

Cadbury Easter Egg Trail

It’s not an Easter weekend without an Easter Egg hunt! Taking place all weekend at Arlington Court, you too can become an eggs-plorer and follow the clues around the grounds to claim your scrummy Cadbury treat at the end. Dogs on leads are also welcome.

Lorna Doone – Fact and Fiction

Taking place on April 4th, the gentle, circular walk is the perfect way to spend a Saturday on Exmoor. Led by the Exmoor Society, starting at Malmsmead car park, you’ll be guided around the Doone Valley, the area which influenced the famous novel Lorna Doone – a novel that has helped to shape Exmoor’s legacy. Places visited will include the medieval village and Oare Church.
