Woolacombe beach named 'among the best in the world'
And here we were thinking that we had a biased opinion by thinking that we had the best beaches here in North Devon. It’s clear that people share our opinion as a recent survey has seen Woolacombe Beach voted as one of the best in the world, surpassing some of the most idyllic, picturesque coastlines in the Seychelles, the Caribbean, and Africa, respectively. The good news for the beach, just down the road from our Woolacombe holiday cottages, is that as well as being crowned top of the UK charts and 4th best in Europe, Woolacombe Bay was additionally ranked in at an impressive 13th place as the best beach in the world by reviews gathered by TripAdvisor. The popular beat off strong opponents, including beaches in Costa Rica, Aruba, and New Zealand to claim its well-deserved place, with the reviews website labelling it as a three-mile stretch of "golden sand", with "rolling, unbroken surf, ideal for surfers and backed by sandy hills"- we couldn’t agree more! The top beach in the world was Baia do Sancho in Brazil's Fernando de Noronha island chain.
